Diane Branham

Name: Diane Branham

Team Name: Branham's Racing

Nickname:
Nitrous Nonnie

Hometown:
Lake View Terrace

Birth Date:
 Dec. 31, 1960

Occupation:
 Retired antiques dealers.

Family: My husband is Jimmy Branham (the greatest husband EVER!). We have two kids (our son Richie races a sweet '65 Nova) and I am the proudest grandmother of 3 beautiful grandbabies ages 4 yrs, 18 months and 1 year.

Crew Members:  Jimmy, Richie, Dennis Jewell and Mike & John Mercurio.

Racing History (series or street):
My hometrack is Irwindale Dragstrip but I first learned to race at LACR in Palmdale a little over 5 years ago. We also race at Famoso & Fontana and we've raced in Las Vegas for Pinks All-Out.

Class:  Mean Street, ET Bracket, D-Gas, Hot Rod

Car:
1971 Chevy Nova SS, black with fluorescent pink racing stripes, hot pink nitrous bottle & wheelie bars. I run a 406 Donovan aluminum small block, Brodix aluminum manifold & heads, powerglide with a trans brake. If it's polished aluminum or hot pink, I've probably got one on my car. LOL! :)

On the motor my car runs 10.30's in the quarter but my best time is 9.95 at 132 mph on a 100 shot of nitrous.

Future plans for car and or Race Team:
My goal is to race Division 7 so I can accumulate enough points to run WinterNationals at Pomona.

Biggest racing rival(s):
My two biggest racing rivals are my husband and my son. And of course there are a couple others out there who will remain unnamed...but YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE...and I'm right on your tail, guys, so watch out!!  :)

Racing Accomplishments:
My husband and I just have a blast racing together. Our ''date night'' is every Thursday night racing at Irwindale. I enjoy wrenching on my car almost as much as I enjoy driving it. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis (a rare autoimmune disease similar to Lupis) so my car has been the best therapy that has gotten me through some very rough times. We've met some wonderful people at the track and hope to continue racing for many, many years.
